Today, I will start with some Croatian and Romanian stamps.

Croatia

[Left] in other previous post with more stamps from Croatia , I have presented the other two stamps of this series (3) 1943 "Famous Croats" ; the picture represents Catherine Zrinski.. The Zrinsksi were a influential noble Family from Croatia also very respected in Hungary.. The Power of the Family was due mainly to the Ottoman Wars in the Southeast Europe.. Catherine married a member of the Family and became also a Zrinski.. she was known to be a Poetess.

[Right] some stamps from a series (19)  1941/1943 mainly with pictures of Cities and Landscapes from Croatia.. the stamps have a weak printing and the detail is very poor (sometimes we barely understand what we are seeing...) ; however , this series, presents us a delicate set of colors (Prussian Green, Carmine Lake, Deep Ultramarine or Dark Plum Violet...) .. it deserved a better printing , but those were the War days..!..

Saturday morning ,I was talking to a friend of mine and in the middle of the conversation, Romanian and Hungarian stamps appeared with something like "Oh.. everybody have lots of those.. I can't even exchange them.. "..Romanian stamps are indeed easily available and in most cases with low or very low prices... however , we should have caution with what we exchange.. because there are lots of variety's ,errors and other aspects that could turn a "easy" stamp in a "scarce" stamp.. ( with the correspondent change in value, of course...)..
for example, in this series we must study carefully the Wmk's because there are a few varieties.. [ this aspects are only available with National Catalogs and specific articles...]

The Bishop

New Entries

Today, I thought of having some more recent stamps than usual..so I present here a small group of Croatian stamps and a set from Ukraine..

I don't know where this group of stamps from Croatia came from ... they just "appeared".. I don't remember to have bought them, so they must be a part of a larger lot of stamps I acquired in recent Years (2011, or 2012..)
This is the 1st Air Mail series of Croatia... the stamps are from 1991 and the series is complete..
Perf: 10.5 x 11
SG(154,155,156) Sc(C1,C2,C3)

in those days (1991,1992...) Croatia was a wounded country, recently emerged from a devastating War... so, it is not strange that there were many Postal Tax stamps, gathering financial help for the most diverse purposes.. here is a group of individual Postal Tax stamps

from left to right , we have:
1) issued in 01/11/1991.. complete set " Obligatory Tax. Workers' Fund. Re-erection of Ban Josip Jelacic Equestrian Statue, Zagreb" ; this was a postal Tax obligatory during all the November month..
Perf: 10.5 x 11
SG(158) Sc(RA25)

2) issued in 01/08/1992 .. complete set "Obligatory Tax. Fund for National Shrine to Madonna of Bistrica" ; obligatory during the month of August.
Perf: 14
SG(197) Sc(RA35)

3) issued in 04/11/1992.. complete set "Obligatory Tax. Croatian Anti-cancer League"..obligatory during the month of November.. the stamp represents St. George slaying the Dragon..
Perf: 14
SG(205) Sc(RA37)

4) initially the surcharge was obligatory in all mail...in the middle of the year of 1992 , these stamps were allowed to serve as current postage stamps with the value of 10d (in this case..)
Issued in 04/02/1992 , this is a stamp from the set 3 1992 "Obligatory Tax. Famous Croatians"
Perf: 14 (the 1st two stamps have 10.5 x 11)
SG(173) Sc(B102)

Complete set 1992 "Arms of Croatia" ; in 1991 was issued a similar stamp, a postal Tax stamp ,  with the value of 2.20d..
Perf: 10.5 x 11
SG(170) Sc(104)

Complete set 1992 "125th Anniv of Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts." ; the stamp represents Bishop Josip Strossmayer.

This complete set of Ukraine was given to me by a seller who sent me this as a bonus for another buy.. In addition to this set I only have that "Non Existing" set 14 1920(they are very beautiful, but never really were placed in use..)
This is a set from 1997 named "Protected Animals"

The Chariot

New Entries

I'm starting with some beautiful stamps from Mongolia..The first thing that we mark is that these stamps are very different from those large stamps with , sometimes, less evolved paintings that we are accustomed to find ... these are really good stamps and are in the "folder" of the "appealing stamps"...( in my opinion, of course..)..This is the first Mongolian series where human figures appeared, and also landscapes , buildings.etc. before they were more abstract pictures , perhaps with a more religious approach...The aspect that troubles me , in these stamps, is the word "postage".. Why is that a country in the influence of the Soviet Union and/or China, make stamps with the word "postage".??; the stamps from the 30's , 40's and 50's , until 1960 have maintained a very "Chinese " style and in 1960 , something happened.. I'm not in conditions to know what really happened , but something did!! ( I will leave a link to a very good article about Mongolia , in Wikipedia.)
I maybe misinterpreted when I somehow diminished more recent stamps from Mongolia... I like them , I collect them and I have a large number of them(!..), but I prefer this more "Worked and classical " style..
These are stamps from a set 13 1932 "Nature, Culture and Personalities of Mongolia" (invented name., again..)
Perf: 12.5 x 12
SG(46,47,48,49,50,51,52,54) Sc(62,63,64,65,66,67,68,70) Wmk [beautiful and clearly visible]

stamps from Croatia ... the paper used in these stamps , is very thin and plain, similar to that used in some of the Chinese stamps of this same period of time..Yes, these are stamps from 1943/1944 and the featured personality is Ante Pavelic.. [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ante_Paveli%C4%87  ]
This set 20 was issued with two perforations..12.5 and 14 ; this particular 3.50k stamp has a history of it's own..First it is different from the others because of the perforation.(11.5). A simple analysis show that the paper is also different (more thick..); but the story came with the day when it was specially issued ..at 13/06/1943 , Pavelic's Saint's Day (!!??.) it has a superior catalog value [ let me say , that this stamp also exists with normal perforations..]
Perf: 12.5 (3k) 14(1k,2k,4k) 11.5(3.50k)
Sc(64,66,67,68a,69)

also issued in 1943, these stamps belong to a set 3 "Famous Croats"...
Perf: 12 x 12.5
SG(83,84) Sc(57,58)

from the set 2 1943 " Honouring Ruder Boskovic (astronomer)"
Perf: 11
Sc(59)

I received this stamp Yesterday and I came to the conclusion that I only bought 4 stamps in this all year of 2014..and spent less then € 10.00...[ Earth spins in it's perpetual movement and we spin also with our up's and Down's... I think that , perhaps the World have stopped from spinning, because my Up's are kept away from me...]
From the set 12 1896 "1st International Olympic Games"
Perf: 13.5 x 14
