Energy

 New Entries

Today I have a small selection of beautiful Czechoslovakia stamps... the attention to the detail and the quality of the Artists is a well known attribute of the Czech School of Designers and Engravers... It is the first time I look to Czechoslovakia stamps with this "new" approach (my interest for Designers and Engravers is recent... as you know..)  These stamps offers us great complexity , with many artists working in just one series... it required several  hours of "digging" just to give you the correct data about the first series I present here today...

These are stamps from the series (13) 1954 "Professions"
Perf : 12.5 x 12 or 11.5 x 11
SG(815,816,817,819,...,827) Sc(645.646.647,649,...,657)
[Des] Jan Charles Vondrous (1884/1970) [15h]
          Anna Podzemná-Suchardová (b 1909) [20h,40h]
          Bohumil Matejicek (b 1925) [50h]
          V. Nemecek [75h]
          Zdenek Adámek (1927) [80h, 1.20K]
          Alexandr Vladimír Hrska ( 1890/1954) [1K]
          Vladimir Silovsky (1891/1974) [1.60K]
          Mario Stretti (1910/1960) [2K,3K]
          Cyril Bouda (1901/1984) [2.40K]

[Engr] J.A. Svengsbir (1921/1983) [15h,40h,50h]
           Jan Mracek (1909/1987) [20h,75h,1.20K]
           Bedrich Housa (1926) [80h,1.60K]
           Bodhan Roule (1921/1960) [1K,2.40K,3K]
           Jindra Schmidt (1897/1984) [2K]

Just one stamp is missing (45h) in the series above .. As you see, 9 Designers and 5 Engravers have worked in the series... this richness of human resources, and the different combinations of Artists are aspects that contributed to the Uniqueness of Czechoslovakia stamps...
Currently , there are many InterNet sites ,Study's , International Philatelic Club's and articles dedicated to Czechoslovakia Philately.. it only show us the great vitality and the constant renewal of the number of Fans... there is a large quantity of stamps available at a low or very low price , what make's it even more appealing..

These are stamps from the (5) 1956 "Five Year Plan".. Now we can see very detailed designs of complex Urban and Industrial Architectural Landscapes.. the focus here goes to the successive plans ,with great emphasis in the energy and structural development , that take place in the Countries of the former Soviet Union during the 50's and 60's...

Stamps With Personality

New Entries

This post is about the so called Personality stamps.. I must say that I don't collect topics, so for me these are just ordinary stamps..they have also the particularity of in some cases , having lots of history attached , to search and "dig"..Czechoslovakia Philately is  rich in this kind of stamps and has created a unique stile of design ... in the 50's, 60's and 70's beautiful stamps of these "topic" were issued, and some of them (a small number... ) are here presented..
These stamps must , like the others, be classified , so I prefer to gather some of them and do a post , for now ( I have much more to present...)

I could link each of these stamps to an article in the Net about the personalities shown... I decide not to do so , today , because it will be somehow annoying... I will link just one of the stamps...

Complete set 1952 " 360th Birth Anniv of Komensky (educationist)."

from the set 6 1961 "Cultural Anniversaries"
1) Jindrich Mosna
2) Alois Mrstik
3) Karel V. Rais
4) Josef Hora
It could exist a mistake in the classification of the 3rd of the stamps presented... As you can see in the other 3 stamps a book appears, and We know that the personalities are writers or poets..However, in the catalogs a painter is included in these set.. I think that could be a mistake... this stamp "match" perfectly...I must study this , with time..

A Numeral, Coats of Arms and Personalities

New Entries

Imperforated stamp from Bavaria 1849 ; the important factor to have in mind when classifying these "remote" numerals is the inner circle.. In this case the circle is cut by the labels... in 1850 a new set is issued with the full circle...
SG(3) Sc(2b)

This set of stamps represents the coat of Arms of Bavaria and was issued from 1870 to 1872.
In these "Coat of Arms" sets the decisive point is the Watermark... there are many similar stamps , only diverging by the wmk.
Perf: 11.5
Sc (24a)

The stamp is damaged in the right perf and has some rust marks..(nothing that bother's me...)
This set was issued from 1881 to 1906; the
wmk show these vertical wavy lines.

Some Austrian stamps and a Group of Lenin's

New Entries

This is a group of definitive stamps from 1920/1921"Republican Arms" with 9 stamps..There seems to be a problem here , because I have two pairs of the stamp of 2k with different tones of blue...I think that the difference is to great to be just a printing hazard, but these stamps don't intervene in any other series , so I have classified the stamp with the same catalog number ;I will keep the light blue pair as a different tonality... (In this cases , catalogs from the country in question are indispensable..! but I don't have an Austrian catalog , so...)
When I was classifying these stamps I noticed that there are also differences in the quality of the paper.. the 5k and 10k are made of a paper of greater quality..
Perf: 12.5
SG(405,...,408,410)
