Night Flight

New Entries

Denmark

Some more stamps from another series of King Christian X.. this time a right profile.. series (6) 1934/1941; I already talked about these 4 series of definitive stamps , that in my opinion are really beautiful and without doubts "must have" items (this is not a frequent classification , when we are talking about relatively long series with the repetition of just one design...) .
Perf: 13
SG(283,283a,283b,284) Sc(239,240,240a,241)
[Engr]

something more about King Christian X [ specially for fan's of Royal Postcards and Photos]

Now , we have some stamps of King Frederik IX.. ; to study these series , we must divide the stamps in 3 different varieties..
1) background just with horizontal lines..
2) background with Horizontal and Vertical lines (1st little square..) and King's Uniform with parallel lines (2nd little square..)
3) same background and King's uniform with perpendicular lines creating a "chess" pattern ( 3rd little square..)
This series had 4 emissions [(9) 1948/1950,(9) 1950/1951,(9) 1952/1953,(1) 1955 ]
These varieties are only important in the 1st emission , because the other one's have only stamps of the type 3)

The 3 stamps presented above, belong to the 1st emission of 1948/1950..the 1st 3rd stamps are type 3 and the 2nd is strange.. it seems to me that it is a type 2 but it cannot be , according to the catalogs. The perforation is 13 , for the all 4 emissions..

the first two stamps have the same SG code and different codes in Sc.

I have to restrain myself of seeing stamps, auctions and those kind of things , because or I don't have the money or I'll end spending money I will need for more urgent matters in the future..

The Moose

New Entries

Today I have some Nordic stamps to present..

Some new additions to the set "King Christian X (1942/1946)" ..As I said before, these long series of King Christian X are a pleasure to collect...I have much more to offer in what is concerned with this series , but ... they are not new additions to the collection! I don't know if I already talk about this aspect, but this set is UnWaterMarked...
Let me explain my way of viewing stamp Topics... what information's can I get from this stamp?.
I would classify it in:
1) Known Personalities 2)Military Uniforms 3) Crowns 4) Royal Personality 5) Heraldry
This is a very personal subject , and there is no way of telling that We have the right view of things and the others don't... Like in life , everyone has it's one..

Now let us walk North to Norway

This is a series with beautiful stamps... We must view them in detail , because the background pictures are somehow "fainted"
It is a set of 11 1947 "Tercentenary of Norwegian Post Office" .. It is without doubts, my last addition to the "Most Wanted" folder...
Perf: 13
SG(385,386,387,389,392) Sc(280,281,282,284,287)

Great Ocean Landscape ruined by a Letter Postmark...it is very good the perspective and design of the Cirrus clouds, giving us that sense of depth..it is really a good picture!!
it is from a set 2 1965 "Centenary of Norwegian Red Cross"
Perf: 13
SG(580) Sc(474)

from a set 3 1939... there are two issues of these set.. One , the Original , of 1938, with Wmk and the other , this one of 1939, without Wmk.;  the set is called "Tourist Propaganda"
Perf: 13.5 x 13
SG(262) Sc(184)

To finish this post , I have a set from Sweden... We must consider it by two different ways.1) it is a complete set of stamps with vertical perforation.. 2) it is a incomplete set , if We mix the perforated stamps ( and there is one missing...)  with those of vertical perforation.. I prefer to classify it the second Way , because the pictures are the same and the Name of the series also ( the theme of the series..) remains..
The personalities represented are J.J.Berzelius (10;30) and Carl Von Linne (15;50;15)
From a set 6 1939 "Bicentenary  of the Swedish Academy of Sciences"
Perf: N/A x 12.5 and 12.5
Sc(293,294,295,296,297)

Vertical or Horizontal??..

New Entries

It is not the first time I post new entries of Swedish stamps... You can see that in most of the stamps presented a strange kind of perforation is used.. I begin my usual investigation and found an article I think will bring you some "light" over this aspect of Sweden's Philately..

Yesterday I wrote about a lot that I bought , a lot of European stamps from the 20's and 30's.. well, these are also stamps of that lot.. It is very helpful to buy these lots , because we could have an idea of the main series of each country, and at the same time similarities between different ways of seeing Philately..In this lot there were stamps from Sweden, Norway, Denmark,Belgium,Austria and Spain ; even , if you get just one or two stamps of a series , when You classify them You will know about that particular set and know if it is a "must have " situation or not, what periods of time interest  You more in each country, etc.
These are stamps from a set 12 1936 "Tercentenary of Swedish Post."
Perf: 10 Vert
SG(188,189,190,192,193,194,196,197) Sc(251,252,253,255,256,257,259,260)

there are many series of King Gustav V and that is not strange knowing that he reigned for about 43 Years (1907/1950)
These are stamps from a set 3 1947 "40th Anniversary of the Reign of King Gustav V"
Perf: 12.5 Hori
SG(296,297) Sc(386,387)

from a set 3 1956 "16th Olympic Games Equestrian Competitions, Stockholm"
Perf: 12.5 Vert
SG(373,375) Sc(487,489)

A beautiful stamp from a thematic that I'm not a Fan... there are spectacular series from Sports , but I think in the 80's and 90's bad things were done to this theme , with stamps and sets that I really don't like..talking about thematic s, Yesterday I was presented to a blog that I think it is very interesting...
stamp from set 2 1954 " World Skiing Championships"
Perf: 12.5 Vert
SG(344) Sc(463)

from the set 2 1969 "50th Anniv of I.L.O(Internation Labour Organization)"
Perf: 12.5 Hori
