A Walk in the Sahara Desert

New Entries

some more stamps from Algeria.. first from the France period of Domination and in the end , some stamps from the 60's and 70's..(few..)

These are stamps of a very large series from 1936/1941.. A few posts ago, I think in April, I already present some more stamps of this series.. it is a series with 31 stamps, representing Landscapes , Monuments, and Views of Algeria..The $65 stamp is the only one of these that is not issued in 1936 [1937]..
Last time , I named this series "Sites et Paysages (1936/1941)" and I think it is a good name...
the perforation is 13 ..

The Prince

New Entries

When we talk about Algeria Philately, we got to separate two distinct periods : one , over the influence of France and other as a independent country..so, the next stamps will be presented in chronological order , starting with a overprinted stamp from France .

These stamps were issued for the first time in France in 1900..
They are from  the , so called, "Type Merson".. Olivier Merson was the designer of the stamps ...the stamps have two little signatures in the inferior red (in this case...) frame.. usually the left signature belongs to the designer and the right to the engraver... in this particular stamp , these signatures are not well visible (the same thing occurred in the last issues of this stamps in France ( beginning of the 20's..))
from a set of 32 from 1924, these stamps were issued until 1926...

these are stamps from a set 31 with 8 different motifs .. only 2 are presented here... these are , without doubts, beautiful stamps... As usual , catalogs don't present names for this kind of series , so I invented one ( it begins to be also usual...) .. I called "Sites et Paysages (1936/1941)"

The Queen, The President and the Hot Desert Sand..

New Entries

3 stamps from the set 27 1898 "Queen Wilhelmina 1898/1924" ; at least one of the stamps from this set was issued only in 1924 , what gives us a long period of circulation for some of them. It is possible to see a "terrible" postmark on the stamp of 10c (it is a weird cancellation for this period...) and some spots of rust or other material, that decrease the final overall condition of the 12.5c stamp.
Perf: 12.5
SG(177,179,180)  Sc(65,67,68)

8 stamps from the set 10 1967 " President Tito's 75th Birthday " ; this set is very important for me , because one of my goals in this hobby is to complete the year of 1967 in the greatest number of countries possible...I think that this goal is becoming rapidly a secondary one , and the first objective , for me now is to complete the larger number of series possible  ...So , I always need stamps , from every date, country or thematic.. I only need stamps..!! when i finish a 1967 country, I use to make a youtube video..You can always access them at  https://www.youtube.com/user/1967Stamps
Back to President Tito's stamps, I need to say that the values of 15c and 85c are missing ( there should be no problem to finish this set.) .In 1968 , another emission of these stamps was made with different values or same values with different colors..
Perf: 12.5
SG(1246,1247,1249,1250,1251,1252,1253,1273)  Sc(860,861,863,864,865,866,867,869)

I also have a G+ page , that was very important for me , because all this idea of showing the progress of my collection, was taken from all that is happening there.. people like to see stamps ( other collectors , of course..) , old stamps , new stamps, expensive stamps , cheap stamps, etc.. In these moment I have a great difficulty , that is to connect this blog to my G+ circles.. it is a problem ( an old problem..) with my email (to much things connected to the same email...).. I am hopping to resolve this problem in the next few days....
